Ananias and Sapphira
The deaths of Ananias and Sapphira were a warning to us about lying to ourselves about our love and commitment to God, and about thinking you can lie to God.
Neither Ananias nor Sapphira were given the opportunity for repentance which lies at the heart of Christianity. Their deaths are ascribed to a lie to the Holy Spirit, and although they may have not seen it as so, and they may have believed their lying not to be a serious thing, it nevertheless brought judgment down upon them. Would they indeed have committed such an act had they known the consequence?
Ananias and Sapphira thought they were doing a good thing when they gave their gift of money symbolizing their belief in Jesus. But they did this so-called good act, however, connivingly in a way of their choosing, secretly withholding some of proceeds sold on behalf of the community of believers for themselves.
Peter exclaimed: Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart so as to make you lie to the Holy Spirit and keep for yourself some of the proceeds from that field? (Acts 5: 3) When St. Peter finished explaining to Ananias what he did was wrong and that he lied not to just men but to God Ananias fell dead. Likewise did Saphira fall dead when she was confronted by St. Peter and she lied.
It wasn’t about the money. Even though they acted deceitful about it. It was their deception of the community of believers. It was their lying to themselves and to the Holy Spirit as they accepted the honor given to them in the name of Christ for their gesture when they really were not deserving of it. What about the worship you are now giving to God? Is it true to God or based on something you let Satan fill your heart with?
God struck Ananias and Sapphira dead as a onetime warning to all His Christians. He is likely not to do it again though it would be justified.
They were melted out the harsh treatment of death and not given the opportunity of repentance which lies at the heart of the teaching of Christ. How much more deserving of an eternal fate of suffering are those today who do not learn from what happened to them.
What do you think will become of you who are believers today, new and old in the faith, who lie to yourselves and to God, whether purposely or not?
What do you think will become of you Christians, after having been warned as to the truth of your wrong beliefs and actions as they pertain to God, who go on doing the same as you have been?
What shall be your fate? What shall become of you who, unlike Ananias and Sapphira who had no opportunity to repent, have opportunities time and time again to repent but choose not to do so?
God is making known the truth of things in this hour. He is making known the wrong beliefs of so many who say they know love and serve Him. Those who refuse to repent will suffer a fate worse than that of Ananias and Sapphira.
I write as God calls me to write. It is for anyone who is called by God to do so to dispute the deceit and lies within Christendom.
Those of you who must open your eyes and your hearts and your souls to Jesus to the truth of things, you must do so. Those of you who are in need of repenting of wrong beliefs and actions, you must do so. You can do it by the power of God.
Because you have a greater opportunity than that of Ananias and Sapphira, you have an even greater punishment awaiting you should you fail to open yourselves to the truth and repent.
Jesus came to save and not to condemn. But many condemn themselves by turning from the light.
It won’t be easy for many in Christendom today in great need. For most in Christendom today are saying they know, love, and serve the Lord while lying to themselves and to God.
There is not the friction often needed that change take place. This is because there are so many cowards and traitors to the faith in leadership.
Learn from the lesson of Ananias and Sapphira. (Acts 5 :1-11)
Look long and hard to be with God in these confusing and troubled times full of lies and deception. Be careful to listen to the Holy Spirit and not the counterfeit spirit posing as God. Let the Holy Spirit guide you, and only the Holy Spirit.
Jesus is coming again soon.
Your brother in Christ, Eddie
